NEWS: Sampling acitivites in Venice Lagoon

The Venice Lagoon, the largest wetland in the Mediterranean Sea, is a shallow coastal system characterized by tidal shallows, mudflats, and a mosaic of natural and artificial saltmarshes.

Sampling was conducted at four sites within the Venice Lagoon, two located on natural saltmarshes and two on artificial ones. At each site, three replicate samples of sediment cores, surrounding vegetation, and water were collected during two field campa  igns between late April and early May 2025 to assess carbon sequestration potential and compare natural and restored habitats.
